WALMLEY 28.9.20

prev next

Nothing but praise was heard all day for this course and I think that it just keeps getting better.

The attention to detail from the team that manicure this hidden gem is exemplary -right down to the hand cut tees.

Tricky pin positions and greens that were running somewhere on the stimp meter between rapid and ten-foot past, meant that only one team came close to posting a score that normally wins an Am-Am.

Four lady members of Walmley joined in to make a very welcome addition to Teetours Totty and Liz Blake took home a very nice bottle of red for a two on the 11th.

Despite three two's in the same card from Nigel Broomfield, Ken Lewis and Ralph Punsheon, they were the highlight and couldn't bring the team to a podium finish.

Mike Myers team came in with 85 for third place; Martin Bedwell's team were second with 87 bit the day went to a team of Teetours virgins from Beau Desert, and a mixed team too, which is good to see:  Stephen and Jill Preece together with Steven Bent and Trish McGloin had 92 points - furthermore, Jill had a two and won nearest the pin on the 5th.  - Looking at the bottles that were going home with Jill and Stephen I suspect they won't be reading this too early this morning.

It is so good to see so many familiar faces at these events, and so good to be involved in the good humoured banter.  I can only hope that this crazy situation we are all in at the moment does not spoil it any further,  because I am finding it increasingly difficult to book events at clubs, where the committees are finding it impossible to make a decision.
