LADBROOK PARK 14.10.19

prev next

By 14th October, we had had a month’s rainfall.  Despite this, I was quite relieved to find that Ladbrook, although wet, had no more standing water on the course than I experienced the day before on the heathland at Sunningdale.

The first teams set off at 9.30 and had the best of the day a dry round as the rain kept off until 2.30pm.  It is no surprise that the top five scores were from teams that started before 10.33.

I felt sorry for those who went out later on as they did get wet.  And even more so by 6pm when the rain had completely past and it was very pleasant.

Mike Perry and his team set off at midday.  At only five feet four inches, Mike is vertically challenged but ever-cheerful and,  in typical good humour as he handed his card in, he announced that the two hours he had spent out in the rain didn’t matter at all because he had already been Pre-Shrunk!

As he walked up towards the 10th green, Lenny Poole was astounded to see a crow pick up his ball and drop it in the bunker.  ( I must remember that excuse next time I put my foursomes partner in the sand! )

Despite the weather the greens were very true and the course was enjoyed by all.  We return to lovely Ladbrook in the spring on April 27th for anyone who would like to book.
