Last Friday the rain was biblical. Ladbrook park stands on loam rather than sand and is therefore not as free-draining as some of the heathland courses like Sutton Coldfield and Enville.
However, by yesterday, there were no particular areas of standing water and it is to the credit of the ground staff that they produced the course in such a high quality, playable condition.
Some new faces to Teetours were most welcome and there was high praise for the course from some regulars like Brian Reynolds, who were playing the course for the first time.
- Nearest the pin was on the longest par 3 and only one name appeared on the marker - Steve Coates, who hit a splendid 3-wood to three feet.
- Nearest-in-two was awarded to Ryan Barnhurst.
- Longest Drive was strongly contested and Richard Moon only just managed to squeeze his name on to the bottom of the marker.
- A single two was recorded by Toby Deas
With 53 players there were prizes to third place. Phil Adcock's team were edged into third place with a count back on 91 points by Hugh McClean's team from Lutterworth but top of the shop this week was Alan McPeake's team from Uttoxeter with 93 points.
