Robin Hood Am-Am 15.8.24 - Results

After the near 30c heat on Monday, (too hot to play golf) On Thursday at Robin Hood it was an average of 18c:  a much more appealing temperature to play golf.

The course suffered badly in the severe wet conditions of last winter.  However, you would not know it today.  The greens staff have risen to the challenges admirably.

The swirling, two-club wind was a factor;  but not a big enough one to spoil the enjoyment of this lovely parkland course.

The rain appeared in the latter stages and unfortunately caught out the last 6 groups.

John Burns organises an annual reunion of his Nottingham university pals who came up from some very smart courses in Surrey; including Woking and St George’s Hill - they all said that they would like to play this again, armed with a knowledge of the layout.  As usual with these reunions, a lot of beer was drunk and the recollections of student days were both interesting, amusing and possibly incriminating.

Poor old Dave Rogers, who has been a regular Teetours player with his son and two others found himself to be Billy-no-mates today.  Fortunately there was a slot available for him with Jim Jacobs, Angela Allington and Dave Dalby who took him under their wing - in their true spirit of Teetours golf!

It was good to see some old faces again.  Russ Moore was particularly delighted to come along as he had three bottles to collect from previous triumphs.

Craig Hall did exceptionally well to get twelve men together to make up three complete teams - Craig told me later that he would have gladly got a group together to play at Lindrick,  had he known it was just off the M1 in Nottinghamshire and not in Ireland! ????????

Matthew Ruffinato was the only player with a TWO!

With prizes to 4th place, Dean Wright and Nick Dymond repeated their Midland Golf Challenge success with 85 points but just missed the podium on a count back to Craig Hall’s team.

I have had it said that if you can play golf at Uttoxeter, you can play anywhere and this was reinforced by the competition for the top two places, with Alan McPeake’s team scoring 86 but coming second to Alan Kyte’s team with 90.
