Beau Desert 23.9.22

As you can see from the photographs, Friday was a glorious September day with plenty of warm sunshine, very light breeze and you couldn't wish to be anywhere much better than at the top of Cannock Chase,  enjoying the wonderful views and distinct lack of noise pollution that enhance this delightful golf course.

The club is well loved by its members,  who play here a lot.  Understably therefore, we are only allowed 12 start times on any given day.  This disappoints many Teetours players who miss out on this event.  I have asked for extra days in 2023 - we shall see if I am in favour.

It was good to see the return of some familiar faces who had not played recently:  Rob Robbins, who is just finishing his term of Captaincy at Walmley but will remain their resident fish monger.  And Jim McMahon; staunch Scottish, anti-Royalist who is rumoured to have a secret crush on Nicola Sturgeon and would like to see her as President of Britain.

There were some first timers this week; including Pete Benn, who broke his Teetours virginity in some good style, as he won the nearest-the-pin-in-two prize, on the par 4 fourteenth, with an eagle. This was accompanied with another two - certainly a day he will remember!

With only 12 teams, prizes were awarded to third place, making a podium finish all the more special this week:

Robin Fenn led his team of Branston raiders to third place with 87.  Rob Robbins joined Derek Pedley's team and helped them to second place with 88 but top slot was easily filled by Matt and Angela Harrison's team who finished one lap ahead of the field with 96.
