Ladbrook Park. AM-AM  Monday 14th August

Weather forecasters aren’t paid on results.  Fortunately this worked in our favour today.  The outlook was for rain all day, but the reality was that brollies were almost surplus to requirement.  By 3pm beer was being consumed outside on the patio.

I set off at 7am and it rained constantly until 8am making for a slow journey and a depressing outlook.  At that stage I made the decision to put winter rules into effect with pick clean and placing.  It turned out to be a bit unnecessary.

By the time I arrived at Ladbrook the rain had stopped and the leaden skies were beginning to lighten.  A short shower at 1.20pm only lasted 5 minutes and there was only one last shower at 4pm (and no, I am not referring to Nigel Wensley’s team -:)

Ladbrook is a course you could play your golf at all the time and enjoy.  None of the regular boys from Uttoxeter had played it and joined in with the usual praise for this most enjoyable place.  We are back again in October and there are one or two slots available.

Winning the two nearest the pin prizes and converting both of them onto twos, Simon Wingfield from the Forest of Arden had enough wine to share with the rest of the team.

Gary Haslam rolled back the years with a monstrous drive on 13 to win longest drive with ease.

Count backs on 90 points gave Lee Hill and the boys from Uttoxeter a share of the spoils in 4th place.

Lyndon Tylers team from Hagley were third with 93

Top slot was hotly contested on 94 points with Dean Pointon’s team, from Gaudet Luce, loosing by a short head to a better back nine from Jonathan Avill’s team from Sickleholme Golf Club.
