Coventry 21.4.22

prev next

Thanks to Covid postponements, It took us three years to get to Coventry for the first event in 2021.  As we returned there yesterday, it reinforced the opinion that it was well worth waiting for.  This classic parkland course is very well laid out and beautifully maintained.  It is also exceptionally pretty and never more so than in the spring when the blossom is out, which makes being in the trees slightly more palatable.

Last year we played off the white tees and I think we probably should have done so this year as the fairways were in super condition and running very well indeed.  We have already got a 2023 date in the diary with the club and once I have confirmation I will publish it on the website.

Many thanks to those who offered to play at the last minute to make up the teams, one of whom was Andrena Porter; her husband Malcolm was already playing in John Poole's team and I think he may have suggested Andrena came to play too, so that he had a chauffeuse to drive his home after a pint of two.

The Leisure Boys had two teams.  However, they will now be known as the Leisure Gender Neutral's because Nick Harrold brought Lin Thompson for her first Teetours event.  Lin is unquestionalbly the best looking member of the squad.  She is also a pretty feisty competitor: All three men in the team had a two on hole 7; not to be outdone, Lin also had one on hole 17.

Eddie Harvey was superb tee-to-green and won the longest drive. However, if anyone wants to buy his putter you won't have to offer him much!

The verdict from everyone was that this is a lovely place to come and play golf and roll on next year!
