It is always a delight to come to Edgbaston,  venue of the very first Teetours event six years ago.

The management team always treat us kindly and the quality of service has always matched the quality of the course.

This event was originally scheduled for August 16th. However, the club was asked to host the Commonwealth Games’ New Zealand team on that day and pleaded with me to move our event.  I of course agreed and we re-appointed for August 30th.

Whenever we come to Edgbaston we know that there is a very strict time window of 09.30-12.30 between members.  It has been the same for six years.  However, on this occasion, to accommodate an early morning senior’s match,  we were allocated 10.30-13.30.  Unfortunately, my assistant Marlene missed the change of start times (she’s not very good at administration but she needs the job and I haven’t got the heart to sack her)

Anyway, with some delays on the motorway and a bit of juggling between the tenth tee and the first, we managed to get everyone round in good time.  And it appeared much enjoyed by all, judging by the happy faces afterwards, having an afternoon beer on the terrace of the beautiful Queen Anne mansion.

The scores were a little lower this week and the number of two’s was down but this was definitely due to the pin placements, especially on the back nine,  leading to some questions about whether the head green keeper’s love life had taken a downturn over the bank holiday.

Best two of the day went to Ben Standley with an Eagle on 16.

Steve Dingley’s team came third, Dave Rogers’ team were second but the winners enclosure was dominated by Uttoxeter boys.  Cliff Cotterill’s team in fourth place and Alan McPeake’s team in top slot with 93.

Thank you all.
