Ladbrook Park 17.10.22

prev next

It is always a pleasure to come to Ladbrook Park.

However, there have been events in the past where the weather has not been kind to us, to put it mildly.  Those who played last time, in the pouring rain, were wonderfully rewarded yesterday.  Warm autumn sunshine facilitated many to sit on the terrace, enjoying a beer, while overlooking the magnificent 18th green. In fact,  all the greens were magnificent, as was the course in its entirety.  Teetours days don’t come much better than this.

Fortunately the marvelous Mandy in the office has provisionally reserved two more dates for us to return next year.

The course is definitely one of two halves. The back nine needs careful thought;    placement off the tee is imperative to give the chance of a par or bogey.  The evidence for this is in the scores because,  despite the fact that all four counted on the 18th,  only 5 teams had more points on the back nine than the front. -  (What that says about Teetours members ability for careful thought I will leave up to you to decide!!)

Dave Brierley’s team from Gaudet Luce had a podium finish with 89 points rounding off a cracking few days golf that saw great success on the County circuit.

Steve Hawke’s team from Shifnal should have been spraying the crowd with champagne from the centre of the podium with 92 points.

However, Matt Preece had a real red letter day.  He had 2 two’s - and one was on the par 4, index 1,  third hole,  which he eagled with a four iron, from 175 yards out.  That alone was a five point contribution to team top score of 94.
