Worksop 1.8.22

prev next

Many of you have now played at Worksop Golf Club and know that it is well worth travelling to.

And never more so than this year:

With a newly refurbished clubhouse and patio,  the ambience has been improved immensely.  Couple that with Teetours day being only one week after the club hosted the English Amateur and then add dawn-to- dusk sunshine;  it was pretty much faultless.

The greens were immaculate.  The eighteenth looked like the surface of a snooker table - apart from the wicked, right-to-left slope that produced more three puts from only three feet above the hole, than I cared to count.

A virgin team under the captaincy of David Halstead included the affable David Rippin who marked his debut with a lovely Hole-in-one in the 11th.

A late entry team from Matt and Angela Harrison included Noel and Janet Farrelly who had a podium finish with 90 points.

Nigel Wensley's team scored 91 to secure second place and Stephen Morley's team finished in top spot with 94.

On the way home I stopped for supper at the recently refurbished Van Dyke hotel,  to witness am interesting solution to the current hospitality staff shortage; a very efficient robot that delivers dishes direct to the exact table, from the kitchen - much to the delight of the younger diners. - see the tube video below.
